Sebastian and Phineas came to us from northern Maine after the death of their elderly owner. After a period of time in foster care, the boys have gone to loving homes and become out first placements of 2005.

2004 Adoptions

Tasha is a lovely little7 year old who started life in the northeast and then briefly moved to West Virginia. After her owner passed away, she decided she preferred New England, so she returned north. Tasha has found a new home with the Cassenti's of Massachusetts She has joined Blue (see below) and Woody and by all reports has made herself right at home.

Blue is the world's largest Afghan - or so it seems.  He was turned in to AHRNE when his owners relocated. He's 5 years old and very playful, but also likes a good snooze on the couch.  Blue was adopted by the Cassenti's of Massachusetts.  He now spends his time with Woody, another AHRNE alum, on their large horse farm or traveling to shows in his own motor home. Life doesn't get much better.

The Connecticut 7 - Fortunately, life did get a whole lot better for this group of dogs which was seized by animal control in Plymouth, CT after an anonymous tip that the dogs were being abused. The dogs were all severely underweight, horribly matted or, in some cases, almost totally naked because of severe mange. Several required prolonged hospitalization. Sadly, the oldest dog, mother to most of the others, didn't make it.  She succumbed to a sudden viral infection.  The others, however, were more fortunate and made a  full recovery.  After  a civil trial, the judge awarded custody of the dogs to the state, which then asked AHRNE's help in placing them.  The dogs have gone to loving homes throughout the Northeast and are now enjoying the lives of luxury they so richly deserved.

2003 Adoptions

Aries (right) and Cookie (left) were given up because of their owners' declining health.  Aries is a former AHRNE alumnus who has traveled extensively, having spent some time salmon fishing in Alaska.  Cookie is more of a home body and spent her life in Rhode Island before her recent move to Connecticut where she and Aries now reside with Austin & Tranni Sedicum and various Afghan Hounds, Golden Retrievers, cats, horses and geese.
Chili is also a former AHRNE alum who returned to us due to health issues.  Although formerly a Southerner, Chili has become a transplanted Nutmegger and now lives in Connecticut with Sandy Schab and 4 other Afghan Hound companions, 2 cats and a fish named Alphonse.  He's a sweet boy who shows his affection by wrapping his front paw around your legs and giving you a hug.
Myles is a handsome 2 year old black and tan who was referred to us after someone saw a "free to a good home" ad at their local PetCo.  We quickly made arrangements to take Myles into foster care.  Myles was adopted by Carol, Paul and Adam Lorusso of Massachusetts.  The Lorussos had recently lost their rescue Afghan, Howard, and their other girl, Gracie was pining.
No Photo Available Holly, a pretty little 13 year old, was taken to a Rhode Island shelter after the sudden death of her lifelong owner. The shelter contacted AHRNE and we made arrangements with Austin & Tranni Sedicum of Connecticut to foster Holly.  As often happens with Austin & Tranni, they decided to make the arrangement permanent and Holly has happily joined their resident pack of Afghans and Goldens.
Sonny is a darling young man with eyes that just devour your heart who came to us after a brief stay in foster care in Massachusetts. Sonny was quickly adopted by Linda and Jim Yanotti of Connecticut who lost their beloved Tiger earlier this year.
