The day was gorgeous, the dogs and their companions looked great, everyone was excited about the parade and, of course, each of the dogs went Best in Show. In the photos above you can see them all proudly wearing their blue ribbons while taking a moment to relax.  Thanks to these folks and many other generous individuals, the Rescue parade, which is AHRNE's major fundraising event, was a rousing success.

February 7, 2004 - Nutmeg Afghan Hound Club annual specialty/ AHRNE rescue parade in Meriden, CT

12 intrepid hounds and their owners braved icy roads and miserable weather to journey to Meriden, CT to participate in the AHRNE  rescue parade at Nutmeg Afghan Hound Club's specialty.  They came from as far away as New Hampshire and as nearby as New Haven and it was wonderful to see them all.  Shown above are Jeanne Orr with Hannah, Barb Hays with Tango and Austin & Tranni Sedicum with Aries, Moose, Holly and Cookie. Also strutting their stuff were Max with Denise Webb, Jehan with Beth Stinson, Buddy with George Riddle, Micah with Sandy Schab (handled by Barbara Richard), Audrey with Kerry Gulezian and Sonny with Linda Yannotti.  Special thanks to Wanda Ramadon and Barbara Richard who helped man the rescue table.  Thanks to the generosity of everyone there, the parade, which is AHRNE's major fundraising event, was a financial success as well as just plain fun.

June 14, 2003 Rescue Picnic

On Saturday, June 14, 2003, a very special group of people got together at Wickham Park in Manchester, CT to celebrate their very special dogs at Afghan Hound Rescue of New England's mid-summer picnic.  There were rescued dogs and champion dogs and even some honorary Afghans-for-a-day.  It didn't matter what their background was, or where they came from.  They were all equally loved by their human moms and dads.

A group walk around the park's lovely gardens literally stopped traffic as even a bridal party there for their wedding photos stopped to watch.

The weather was hot, the setting delightful, the food fantastic (and very, very abundant!).  In short it was a perfect day.
