This page reflects those orphans placed between January and June.  For affies placed July through December 2008, please follow this link.

July - December 2008

Rocky ~

Rescued from a TN shelter, Rocky spent some time enjoying some Kentucky hospitality before finding his forever home with Don and Sue in Marblehead Ohio.   This former stray hound is now enjoying the life of comfort and joy with 4 affie playmates.   Rocky's most favorite think to do is run and play with his partner in crime, the infamous Waylon T for Trouble Cunningham.

January 2008

Roxanne ~

Found stray in Florida, Roxanne also enjoyed some southern hospitality in Kentucky before finding her way to AHRCO.  Sent to foster care at Camp Emily, Roxanne quickly became known as 'the blonde bombshell', and just as quickly endeared herself to her foster Mom.   After a few weeks of learning the Camp rules and regulations, Roxanne was very happy to learn that her foster Mom wanted to adopt her.   Camp residents Sabrina the halfghan and Cinder the Collie were not quite so thrilled, but soon accepted the idea that the blonde bombshell was here to stay.

February 2008

Elliott ~

Surrendered to rescue by his S. Indiana family, 6 yr old  Elliott spend 3 weeks entertaining us here at AHRCO headquarters  before moving onto his new family in West Chester Ohio.   Elliott and new Mom Carol can be seen many times each day as they walk around the neighborhood lake.

Fun loving Elliott was previously obedience trained, he walks well on leash and sometimes sits on command - if you say  "snickerdoodle"

March 2008

Lewis ~

At 2 years old Lewis was originally turned into a KY shelter with his brother Clark.   Our best guess on Lewis' parentage is that he is half afghan hound, and half golden retriever.   Lewis is so lovable he has found his forever home with foster Mom, Michelle Krichbaum in Columbus, Ohio.

April '08

Elvis ~

Found roaming stray in the middle of winter, this handsome young man was taken in by a good Samaritan who just happened to be a fan of "the King".  Realizing that the afghan hound was considered the king of dogs, there was no other name deserving of this magnificent hound, other than "Elvis.

After a few weeks in foster care, 2 year old Elvis has found his forever home as a companion to Elliott with Carol and Steve in West Chester Ohio where they have a brand new 2 acre fenced yard to play in.

May '08

Mika ~

This little cutie found herself a guest of a kill shelter in N. Ohio.  Adopted and released to rescue Mika soon found her new family with Maureen Grandon.   Estimated to be about 9-12 weeks old, little Mika is now enjoying life with her new big sister, lab mix Chloe.

June '08

Happy Boy ~

After 9 months in foster care, Happy Boy's foster Mom has finally admitted to herself what Happy Boy has known all along.   He is home!!!

Adopted by AHRCO  volunteer, Debbie Smith, Happy Boy will soon have a new name, until then his mischievous self has earned him the knick name "Hoodie" .
