Tucker Lou~
One of 5
- 9 week old puppies rescued from a back yard breeder, Louie as we called him, had fallen
down several stairs 6 days prior to rescue. His cries of pain ignored, his leg left
untreated. When rescued and taken for veterinary care, Louie was diagnosed with a
fractured tibia and required immediate surgery. A pin was placed into the bone to
stabilize the fracture and a cast placed on his leg. Restricted to leash exercise, Tucker
expressed his distaste with temper tantrums. The weeks passed and the cast came off and
Louie was adopted. Renamed Tucker Lou, he made up for lost time. He became known as "the
devil in a dog suit". Today, he shares life in Marion, Ohio, with his
partner in crime, Bo (see 1998 adoptions) another wonderful
rescued Afghan hound |

Charlie ~
Dee Pinney had waited years to adopt the dog
of her dreams - an afghan hound. Finally the day arrived and Dee
and her sister drove to Ohio to meet Charlie. It was love at first
sight. For 9mths Charlie was surrounded by love until that
horrible day in August when he was killed
by a passing car after he escaped from his fenced yard while in the care of
a sitter.

Maya Whitney~
Maya was
rescued by Wisconsin Afghan Rescue after her unconcerned breeder released 12 Afghans from
a car into the Wisconsin countryside.
Maya arrived in October 1997 at the Columbus airport a tired, frightened
waif. The care from Wisconsin Rescue for this two-year-old girl was evident, for she toted
a three-page vet list of medical treatments. Part of the medical care was to heal a
weeping wound by her tail. Maya required extensive surgery to repair the damage
caused by an abscessed anal gland left untreated over a long-term period by her uncaring
breeder. Time passed and Maya's wounds healed. She lives happily in
Mansfield, Ohio. |

Reigh~
Reigh was left alone in a locked garage with a pregnant rottweiler while
her owner was absent for several hours. When the owner returned and found Reigh near death
after being attacked by the rottweiler, she transported and surrendered Reigh to her
veterinarian. 36lb Reigh suffered from excessive blood loss, a punctured lung and multiple
severe lacerations. Reigh remained hospitalized for several weeks. Traumatized by the
events in her life, Reigh refused to eat was unsociable to both people and dogs, until
being adopted by Ann. With Anns help and dedication, Reigh has taken great strides
toward recovery. |

Princess Zoe~
Known as the Barbie doll killer, Zoe was surrendered to Rescue in
Tennessee after she ate a collectors edition Barbie doll. Her path to rescue was
forsaken as Zoe was passed from home to home, through a puppy mill to yet another home and
finally, finally relinquished to rescue at the age of 2.
